APPRENTICE LINE TECHNICIAN

San Miguel Power Assn., Inc. (SMPA) a growing, diverse electric distribution cooperative with over 14,000 meters, is looking for qualified applicants to fill an Apprentice Line Technician position, with the main reporting location in Telluride, CO.  The cooperative is located in Southwestern Colorado, serving the San Juan Mountains including Telluride and Silverton, west to the Utah border, and has offices in Nucla and Ridgway, Colorado.

Qualifications include: A High School diploma or equivalent required. Certificate of completion from a qualified hot line school program preferred, but not required. Must have basic math skills and  be able to read, write and evaluate situations. Must possess a strong work ethic that includes working in the safest manner possible at all times and working as a team member. Must represent the co-op in a progressive, positive, and professional manner in all relationships, both internal and external.  Must possess strong computer skills in relation to the position. Must be able to receive direction from others and follow through with tasks assigned. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. The applicant will be required to be enrolled in, and complete a 4-year (8,000 hour) Apprenticeship Program selected by SMPA. The applicant also understands that this position will require traveling in order to gain knowledge and required hours of on-the-job training.

This position requires a valid Class A, Colorado Driver’s License.

SMPA is located in the majestic mountains, mesas and plateaus of the western slope, with some of the most beautiful country in the United States.  Endless recreational opportunities abound, including skiing, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, climbing, photography, and many others. The service territory contains a varied membership, including residential, ranching, small businesses and ski resorts. Tourism is a large part of the area’s foundation.
